HD-PLC to participate in 2009 Consumer Electronic Show (CES)

Exhibit booth at the 2008 International CES

HD-PLC Alliance will participate in the 2009 International Consumer Electronic Show (CES), the world’s largest home appliances/electronics show to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from Thursday, January 8th to Sunday, January 11th, 2009.

This will be the second time for HD-PLC Alliance to participate in CES; the first time was in January 2008. There will be various equipments with high speed communication technology using power lines on display, along with examples of real life applications. The concept of ‘Green Ubiquitous’ will be introduced, which allows for convenience and eco-friendliness to co-exist.

At the main stage, An electrical vehicle will be on display at the exhibit booth. There will be a demo on how the electrical car and an intercom at the front door can be connected. The electrical car that can be charged from a regular outlet at the home will be connected to the intercom at the front door using the HD-PLC network. Visitors to the exhibit booth will be able to see the charge status of the car, as well as video footage from the on-board camera.

Other equipments also on exhibit for the first time are: internet radio with PLC adaptor that can broadcast music from internet streaming radio channels; users can enjoy music anywhere as long as there is an electrical outlet, an adaptor developed by Audiovox Corp. of the U.S. that convert data between HDMI, an interface transmitting data between digital TVs, and HD-PLC, and also the PLC adaptor that allows users to connect to the internet via a USB interface. The exhibit will not only cover home appliances, but also structural items for the home such as windows with automatic louvers that can be remotely operated via HD-PLC.
